Friday Pinterest Finds

Today is a good day! I'm wearing hand knit socks, and hand knits always make any day better!

Yesterday was my last day of school for a bit as I'm on "Spring Break" next week. (Quotations because this is what it looks like outside of my window right now)

And the snow is still falling. I realize that I line in New York, and this isn't that uncommon, but I'm just ready for nicer weather. Please?

Anyway, I have some great pins for you today! Simply click on the photo and it will take you to the original pin so you can repin or check it out for yourself.

For the other knitters out there, a great pin about different sock heels.

This is a great recipe I found from Skinny Taste... sounds SO GOOD right now!

Guilt free home made "ice cream"!

Mini fruit pizzas! I love how everyone gets their own :)

I can't decide if I want to make these Cheesy Garlic Cauliflower sticks when Zach isn't around or not tell him what they are and see if he notices they aren't "normal"!

A cool collection of non-alcoholic drinks when you want something a little fancy :)

Clearly the weather is making me crave comfort food because here is yet another casserole.

I hope you have a great weekend! I'm planning on spending mine having dinner with friends, relaxing, and generally not worrying about school (at least until next week!)

WIP Wednesday

I feel like this week hasn't been a good one for knitting progress, but I have an FO and two works in progress to show so it couldn't have been too bad!

This is my finished object for this week, another bib! I am loving making these little guys, and I think they are my new go-to baby shower gift :)

I only worked on 2 WIPs this week. One was yet another baby bib.

The other is the blanket I have been making for my friend's mom. Its just about done! A few more stripes and a border to go.

I think I have determined that 2-3 projects on the needles is a good number for me. I don't think I could ever be a monogamous knitter because I need to switch back and forth (sometimes several times a day!) between projects to keep my interest level up. Any more than four projects makes me feel crazy though. Only took me five years of knitting to figure this out!

Monday Menu for the Week

This weekend was one of the best in a while. The only thing that could have made it better was if it would warm up! Nevertheless, we got to spend time with family and friends but still managed to get the homework and other miscellaneous items done that needed to be. That's what I call a win!

We also got to watch a movie that I LOVED. It was Here Comes the Boom with Kevin James. Hilarious! I love movies that have any sort of martial arts, so this was right up my alley. It has a nice storyline and was the perfect thing for the hubs and I to watch on Saturday night :)

This is my last week before break (yay!) and then it is 6 short weeks of classes left before graduation. Hard to believe! But before I get ahead of myself, here's my plan for the week:

Monday:
Lunch- chicken and avocado wrap with whatever else I can find to put in it and cottage cheese on the side
Dinner- I'm going to make healthy(ish) alfredo using this recipe, but instead of chicken we will have shrimp and asparagus

Tuesday:
Lunch- I'll pack some snacks and probably get a salad or sandwich from school
Dinner- the hubs is cooking!

Wednesday:
Lunch- English Muffin Pizza
Dinner- Cheeseburger casserole

Thursday:
Lunch- Either soup to heat up or leftovers with snacks
Dinner- leftover Cheeseburger Casserole

Friday:
Lunch- surprise
Dinner- Revisiting an old favorite with Cheesy Fries and I might try to make Shamrock Shakes too (never got around to it this weekend, and I want some!)

Tuesday after classes I have to come home and take a midterm, so the hubs is in charge of finding us something to eat. I'll have to report back on what he does!

Friday Pinterest Finds

This post almost didn't happen today. Its been kind of an odd week; nothing crazy but just slightly off from the normal weekly schedule. I don't know if it was because of that or something else, but I don't have much ambition today. When I went to Pinterest and realized I had pinned 1 thing I was close to just skipping the Pinterest Finds post for this week. I got to leave work a little early though, and curling up on the couch with my lap top sounded pretty good, so I now have some pins to share with you :)

The hubs and I love mexican food, and these enchiladas look great!

This seems like a smart idea for under kitchen and bathroom sinks.

I can't laugh too hard... we have a Snuggie ;)

This is so ridiculous and funny at the same time

Mmmm healthier alfredo sauce? Yes please!

I think this is a sweet pose for maternity photos

I love these colors for decorating a room

What a fun table!

WIP Wednesday

This WIP Wednesday post is going to look like an FO Wednesday post, because the only photo I have today is of my FO for the week! Its baby knitting season here, as I know several people who are expecting. This is the first of a few colorful bibs I plan to make for a shower gift:

I think it came out great, which is good because I plan to make at least 3 more! The one I just cast on is orange, and it will have a red tie string. I love the idea of making several as a gift, and having them all coordinate :)

I did pick up the crocheted blanket this week, but I only did a few rows and forgot to take a photo. Oops! Next week.

Reading is still just more school work. I am just about done with Embers of War, which is a book about the Vietnam War. If you are at all interested in that kind of thing I would highly suggest this book- while it is packed full of details it doesn't read like a textbook, and when I wasn't madly trying to finish reading by a deadline I enjoyed it.

Monday Menu Redo?

This weekend was beautiful! Saturday I helped some friends move, and you couldn't have asked for better weather. It was around 50 and not a drop of rain. Sunday proved to be even more beautiful, getting into the mid 50s. The hubs and I took a walk down to Tim Hortons just to soak up the warmth :)

Almost all the snow has melted from our yard now, but the forecast calls for more this week. Lovely.

It turns out that last week's menu wasn't so successful. Some weeks are just like that- unexpected plans come up, we get invited out to dinner, I don't get to grab groceries when I think I will. Last week was one of those week's when we had quite the fail at menu plan executing. Oh well! Nothing spoiled, and I plan to reuse some of the ideas for this week, hence the title :)

I also think I might start including some of my lunch plans with dinner. Tuesdays and Thursdays I pack lunch (and snacks), and the rest of the days I usually eat at home (ah the joys of working 5 minutes from home!) I got thinking that maybe it would keep me accountable to pack healthy and have more organized lunches when I am home, so here goes nothing!

Monday Lunch: Leftover sub and chex mix
Monday Dinner: Fried rice with broccoli, asparagus, and egg

Tuesday Lunch: Leftover pizza with peaches, granola bar, and oreos
Tuesday Dinner: Leftover fried rice

Wednesday Lunch: English muffin Chicken pizza
Wednesday Dinner: Meatball Subs (I'm doing beef rather than chicken) and a veggie side

Thursday Lunch: Easy mac with applesauce, granola bar, and chex mix
Thursday Dinner: Cheddar Jalapeño Sausages and baked potatoes

Friday Lunch: Avocado Bacon grilled cheese

I did end up making the pie bars this past weekend, but I forgot to photograph them! They were good, but not great. I don't know if I will make them again, but my father (the recipient of most of the pan) enjoyed them. I'm not sure if any baking will happen this week or not. Guess we will see!

Pinterest Finds

I found a few things this week that I pinned, but nothing really stood out as AMAZING. That's ok, that just means these are nice, dependable things, right?

Anyway, here's what I found:

A DIY face scrub with only 2 ingredients!

I thought these baby shower invitations were just adorable

Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate Cookies- these deserve a special occasion!

I know this sounds weird, but the hubs loves Dr. Pepper and March is his birthday month.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (I could stop here and it would be good) Frozen Yogurt!

I have been feeling the sweet potatoes lately, so when I stumbled across this I knew it needed to be added to the "recipes to try" board! Maple Sweet Potato Hash

If there's anything I like better than cookie dough, its Oreos :) Oreo cake balls

I love the tile on the corner of this kitchen

I really like this outfit, but maybe not in these colors (all I see is bumblebee!?)

WIP Wednesday

I finally feel like I have some good progress to show you guys this week. It probably helps that I didn't do a knitting post last week, and I stayed home sick last Thursday :) Anyway, we have some finished objects!

The first is my Dark and Stormy sweater, or as I named my project, the Dark and Plummy sweater. I am pretty happy with this sweater and really anxious to block it and weave in the ends so I can wear it!

I'll be sure to upload photos of it after it is blocked, maybe even of me modeling it!

My other FO is some socks I have been working on for MONTHS! These were my take along knitting for a while, so they only got worked on when I was out and about. I'm happy to say they are finished and will be given as a gift :)

I'm happy with the way they turned out, and I hope they fit the recipient! Maybe these will get a modeled shot too :)

Reading is the same old textbooks. I did finish loading a new audiobook on my iPod, but there are a few on there I need to listen to, so we'll see if that happens soon!

March Monday Menu!

I'm happy to report that the cold I had last week is 95% gone, leaving me to write corny post titles like this one :) I was still a little under the weather over the weekend, so I wasn't as productive as I could have been, but it was still good! The hubs and I stumbled across our photos from our trip to London and Dublin last summer, and spent some time reminiscing. It will be a few years before we go on another big trip like that, so for now we will look at the photos longingly :)

Anyway-  we need a menu!

Monday: Leftover Buffalo Chicken Pizza Sticks
Tuesday: Jalapeño and cheddar sausage with baked potatoes
Wednesday: Our anniversary! I'm thinking we are going to eat out :)
Thursday: Meatball subs and roasted asparagus
Friday: solo meal! Either something quick or dinner out :)
Saturday: Solo meals all day! I think I'll make Crockpot French Onion Soup to have on hand to eat during the weekend. I also want to make an avocado bacon grilled cheese sandwich, maybe this is lunch?
Sunday: I'll probably make a wrap out of leftover veggies for lunch, and dinner with the hubs will be subs and wings!

I also plan on baking some cherry pie bars this weekend. I meant to make these last weekend, but the pan I needed was at my parents house and I didn't get over there to pick it up until Sunday. I also might bake a new recipe- not sure yet, but my sweet tooth has been in full force!

Pinterest Finds

Sorry about missing the Wednesday WIP post- the cold I mentioned on Monday? TOOK OVER. I felt so terrible I stayed home from school yesterday and only moved off the couch when I had to. I'm better today, but still not great. Hopefully after the weekend I'll be back to normal!

Anyway, I do have a few pins from this week (one of the things I could handle yesterday was clicking!) so here's what I found.

I found this hairstyle and thought it would be great for something a little different.

Spinach Aritchoke bites- like the dip but in its own container!

Mmmm I have made cookies stuffed with oreos, but these sound just as good (if not better)!

I'm not a big fan of red sauce, but this combo just looks so good.

I only had tuna casserole for the first time last year, and it's not too bad! This is a lightened up version similar to green been casserole.

I love stove top, so any recipe that says "stuffing" needs to be made!

This is not something we would normally make for dinner, but it sounded so good and I think it will be great as the weather is starting to warm up!
